Personal profile

E. Charles Osterberg III is an assistant professor of surgery at Dell Medical School. He specializes in reconstructive urology, genitourinary trauma, prosthetics and robotic surgery. After receiving his undergraduate and medical degrees from Northwestern University, Osterberg completed his urology residency at Cornell New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. Osterberg then completed a fellowship in genitourinary reconstruction and trauma with Drs. Benjamin N. Breyer and Jack W. McAninch at the University of California, San Francisco. It was there that he became passionate about the treatment of complications from prior urologic surgery such as urethral strictures, radiation injury, genital lymphedema, stress incontinence, erectile dysfunction, urinary fistulas, voiding dysfunction and penile curvature.

As an author of more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and several textbook chapters, Osterberg has been invited to give national and international lectures on urologic reconstruction. He currently serves as a member to the American Urological Association and the Society for Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons. Osterberg is committed to advancing the field of urology through both research and educating future leaders at Dell Medical School.
