Board certified in Internal Medicine with a subspecialty in Cardiovascular Disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine.George Rodgers received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, where he also completed both his internship and residency training in Internal Medicine. Following his residency, Dr. Rodgers completed a fellowship in Cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

Dr. Rodgers began his career as an interventionalist, but later developed a passion for prevention. In 1999 he introduced the Heart Saver CT (the CAT scan of the heart) to evaluate patients for the earliest evidence of coronary artery disease.Prior to joining the Seton Heart Institute in 2011, Dr. Rodgers was one of the founding members of Austin Heart and The Heart Hospital of Austin. He served as Austin Heart's president from 1999-2005 and was the medical director of The Heart Hospital of Austin in 2004. In 2005, Dr. Rodgers left Austin Heart to join Biophysical Corporation and continues to serve as Chief Medical Officer.

Dr. Rodgers has served as governor of Texas and chairman of the Board of Governors for the American College of Cardiology, and continues to serve on the Board of Trustees. He is board certified in Internal Medicine with a subspecialty in Cardiovascular Disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
